Teachers/Health/Emergency Services

By Professionals for Professionals

Teachers, nurses, doctors and other health and education professionals often face special difficulties and challenges. Public service professionals from the fire, ambulance, police, prison and armed services, frequently deal with people in challenging and distressing situations. Even the most talented professionals sometimes have difficulties including:

  • Difficulty in switching off, thinking about students, patients etc.
  • Work balance, mentally at work even when at home
  • Self-care, compassion fatigue
  • Stress and tension, worrying, anxious, health problems
  • Taking on students, patient, etc. feelings and problems
  • Excessive habits including smoking, alcohol, drug use

In addition there are the stresses of life including divorce, bereavement, and family problems, and relationship difficulties with partners, family or friends.

As a professional counsellor and coach I also work with individuals on many areas of personal development including: confidence and self esteem, self awareness, personal power, confidence, emotional intelligence, interpersonal relationships, and self-care.

Confidentiality

Everyone I work with has the right to confidentiality as laid down by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. There are some exceptions which include:

  • If someone discloses that they intend to hurt themselves or another person, or commit a criminal act.
  • The court has made a legal order for the release of records (a subpoena).
  • The individual gives a signed release specifying to whom the information is to be released.

How does it work?

Counselling and Coaching sessions are held at my office on King Street in Manchester city centre. Sessions usually last for one hour and are once a week for 6 or 10 weeks. I offer flexible appointment times, and I will offer two hour sessions if you prefer, at intervals that suit your needs.

Individuals may fund themselves, or sessions can be invoiced to your employer. If you are referring an employee you can call or email with the name and contact details. I arrange the appointments and keep you informed of attendance, and confirm suitability. The content of the sessions remains confidential between the therapist and the individual.

You can call me on 07594 704204 to book a session, or send me a message below.
