Danbo with armbandsAnxiety can be crippling, stopping you from doing so many things.  At its best anxiety protects you, but it can also restrict and control you.  You may be experiencing the physical symptoms of dizziness, sweating, heart racing, nausea, headaches and sleeplessness.  You might also feel a sense of dread, of being on edge, or being generally irritable and impatient.

Sometimes the anxiety is triggered in certain situations or in certain places.  You might experience anxiety in social situations, be worried about your health, or find yourself feeling anxious a lot of the time.  Some people develop rituals in an attempt to reduce the feelings of anxiety which can lead to OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). Some people try to avoid situations which cause the anxiety. Although this can help it often has unintended and unwelcome consequences, leading to a restrictive lifestyle.

As an experienced counsellor I can help you understand how and why you have an anxious response, and what actions you have taken to help control or avoid these feelings.  I help you to uncover the sequence of thoughts, behaviours and feelings that cause your anxiety, and find a more satisfactory way to overcome them.

I offer a combination of counselling with CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy).  You can start to positively manage your anxiety by finding resources and strategies that will work for you.  You will be able to find ways to reduce the frequency and the intensity of your anxiety so that you can enjoy a more peaceful and satisfying life.
